Updates...

For such a long time, when I was wondering what I could do next for my final project.. Thankful to all my faithful readers and my dear friends who supported me to lead into project. Its been long time since writing my updates about final project but I was wondering all about my final project of course. I must say I am confident in my story, script is done ,did finished the rough shoots which is on the way for editing now. But I could not do anything in my blog since I was fallen sick for such a long time made my mind slightly puzzled. Anyways, the past is past but I sincerely apologize for not updating anything...

Till these days, I have completed my story treatment, concept art sketches, script, story board, rough photo shoot of my story sequence with editing movie and now almost done with rough shoot part. Now I am just hunting for exact locations where I can fit my movie exactly the way how I imagined. But, I am going to share something the interesting part of research which I have done these days... When I have locations, cast ready and shooting plan is with me but something else would be missing which is called, "Lighting".. In every motion pictures, Lighting plays major role... And when I did the basic research work about Lighting I have come across some interesting points.. Truthfully, in my perspective the major beauty behind lighting is color. Yes, it is a color. I believe that I have discusses about color in the previous work too. Color is visually represented element that makes us appeal the reality of nature or an object. If there is no color, obviously we would feel its black and white... And when there is lighting on the color, it gives the depth like shadows, reflective which makes hue more appealing, more brightness and contrast. Color depicts the nature of scene... My movie will be mostly done in interior set which is dormitory room and bedroom. And the interior lighting has to be arranged more carefully to evoke the feel of whatever situations passing through every sequence... Interestingly, I came across some of the facts of colors which depicts the nature of it even in interior...And I would say, bedroom is one fantasy that any person would love to keep all their stuffs inside bedroom make their room as their own world. It is one significant attribute a meaning of emotions of a person living in it, And the lighting of interior is the key to guard the mood of the room.. It is mostly about the nature of the person accommodating the room. And according to the character of person, the lighting would depend on. For example, if any person is so reserved and very much self played and not too much over friendly towards the nature he or she would be staying in the darkest room shutting down the lighting passing through from bedroom. As if any third person enters in, they would feel the world is dark perhaps the room has no proper ventilation. And if the opposite happens, the person who is sunny spirit, he or she would never let darkness passing through the room and they brighten it up in a way as if the eternal summer is prevailing there...

Similarly, I am going to take the same way implement it on my story arranging the set according to the respective character's attitude. For example, Nic is a guy who loves Madhu most and he also gives importance to all his friends, his brothers. He is a guy who cherishes his life at every moment. According to his character, he thinks the life is always in bright side. And this is fact point, since Nic is highly optimistic he always takes his every corner of the life into bright side thus he also keeps his room more brightened. Where as Madhu is different personality compared to Nic. She loves to be herself rather keeping friends and her social life is limited that she mostly hangs out only with one single best friend. Madhu neither allows anyone to enter inside her room. Perhaps, her room is slightly darker than Nic. If the set is made according to main lead's mentality the story would appeal more good and more connecting of what I wanted to convey.

In order to keep my lighting in a very good tempo, I must also be standing balanced on the color psychology structure. Technically, there are two different kinds of lights where they use in motion films. One is hard light and the second one is soft light. Hard Light has the hard edged shadows or well defined shadows it is the single point source. Where as Soft Light is diffused light. It is scattered from all the directions and the intensity of the light is not high as Hard light, since its scattered in all the directions, it would appeal soft and does not cast any harsh shadows. This lighting gives the sense of warmth, friendliness and romance. When I read these points thus I realized why most of the drama genres looks warmth, friendly and gives the sense of aesthetic mood. It is just because of soft light technique. And as I said, right color sense would also play major role in order to co-ordinate with the light rays that gives the exact output what I needed. For example, if there is dark green or dark blue color walls, and if there is light against it, it would reflect which gives the sense of dullness or slightly dim. Because of the colors which has been used were dark. Similarly the colors like white, light yellow or blue are often selected because it is relaxed and gives the feel of peace like foster ice... So I guess I made a sense now. The colors could play major role for significant lighting set up.

I visualized my movie to evoke the feel of aesthetic mood. So, I have decided to implement some good color combinations which is brighter like white and yellow. Thankfully, my location set carries off with this color combination and its almost ready. I would also love to share some of my favorite movie screen shots which has been framed in interior with good color sense and significant light that gave the relaxation peace to my eyes.

The ref shot from Mandarin movie "Secret"

The ref shot from Cantonese movie "House of fury"

The ref shot from Cantonese movie "Fly me to Polaris"

The ref shot from Mandarin movie "Perhaps Love"
The ref shot from Cantonese movie "Lost In Time"

the ref shot from the Cantonese movie "Mighty Baby"

The reference shots whatever I collected has the same brighter color combinations almost like yellow, light green, or white or blue. Which gave the good feel of aesthetic mood and I could feel the warmth of relief. These are all has been taken from drama genres. My project is fully related to drama genre so this information could help me to get into further step
